We all know the challenges that come with communication—especially when using different mediums. Recently, several of my clients have shared frustrations about how their tone and intent can be misunderstood in written formats like email, Slack, or text. In live conversations, even over Zoom, they’re often clear and approachable, but written messages sometimes come across as harsh or impatient, leading to miscommunication and even frustration. So, how can we bridge this gap? One tool I recommend is Voxer. This app allows users to leave voice messages, letting their emotional tone and clarity come through in ways that text often misses. I use it regularly with my coach, and it helps ensure nothing gets lost in translation. The other person gets a notification, listens at their convenience, and responds with their own voice message. Consider using Voxer or a similar tool with your team to improve understanding, collaboration, and emotional connection. When communication is clear, it reduces misunderstandings and helps prevent negative feelings that can lead to disengagement. Open, honest conversations foster psychological safety, and, ultimately, better teamwork. Have you tried other tools to enhance communication? I’d love to hear what works for you!
